👋🏾Salutations Queen! Are you ready to step up your game and show the world what you’re really made of? It’s time to create your “Brag Book,” a powerful tool that will showcase all the amazing things you’ve accomplished.🫰🏾 This isn’t just for interviews, girl; it’s your confidence booster, your proof of excellence, and your secret weapon for getting that six-figure bag 🤑.
Over the next three weeks, we’re going to build your Brag Book step-by-step. Don’t worry if you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed – I’ve got your back! By the end of this series, you’ll have a Brag Book that screams, “I’m the best choice, and here’s why!”
Let’s get into Week 1: Gathering Your Receipts!
Week 1: Gather Your Receipts, Sis!
We’re starting with the basics: pulling together all the proof of your brilliance. Your Brag Book is all about showcasing your unique achievements, so this week is all about collecting and organizing the evidence of your greatness. Think of it like a highlight reel of your career – every award, every shoutout, every win. We’re putting it all together.
Step 1: Gather Your Documents and Files
Grab a cup of coffee, put on your favorite playlist, and let’s start digging. Here’s what you’re looking for:
Performance Reviews: Pull up those performance reviews where your boss couldn’t stop singing your praises. Look for any mention of exceeding expectations, leading projects, or anything that shows you’re a standout.
Emails of Praise: Search your inbox for those “thank you” emails or any messages where someone acknowledged your hard work. We want those receipts, boo!
Certificates and Awards: Did you win “Employee of the Month”? Get a certificate for completing a professional development course? Add them to the pile.
Completed Projects: If you have any project plans, reports, or presentations that you absolutely crushed, grab those too. We’re looking for anything that demonstrates your skills and the results you delivered.
Step 2: Organize Your Achievements
Now that you’ve got your stack of documents, it’s time to organize them. Think about how you want to present your Brag Book. Here are a few ways to categorize:
By Skill: Are you a master communicator, a problem-solving queen, or a project management pro? Group your achievements by the skills they showcase.
By Job Role: If you’ve had multiple roles in your career, consider organizing your Brag Book by job title. This way, you can show growth and versatility.
By Project: If you’ve worked on some big projects, highlight them with all the documents related to each one. Show how you took charge and made things happen.
Step 3: Start Writing Your Achievements
Girl, this is where we start putting that IT GIRL energy into action! For each achievement, write a quick summary that answers these questions:
What was the challenge or goal? Describe what you were tasked with or the problem you were facing.
What action did you take? What did you do that was above and beyond? Don’t be modest – we want all the details.
What were the results? Quantify your impact. Did you save the company money? Increase sales? Improve efficiency? Give me the numbers, sis!
Homework for the Week:
Collect Your Receipts: Spend at least an hour going through your files and emails. Don’t leave any stone unturned.
Organize Your Achievements: Decide how you want to categorize your Brag Book and start putting things in order.
Write Your First Drafts: For at least five achievements, write out your summaries using the prompts above.
Next Week: Crafting Your Brag Book Like a Pro
Next week, we’ll take what you’ve gathered and start putting it all together in a way that shines. We’re talking layout, presentation, and making sure your Brag Book looks as good as you do! So, get those first drafts done, and be ready to level up.
Remember, this is all about showing up and showing out. You are top talent, and it’s time everyone knows it!
Stay tuned for Week 2, where we’ll turn your receipts into a polished portfolio. Let’s keep that energy up and make sure your Brag Book is a show-stopper!
💪🏾Until next time, keep shining, Queen!
